your first visit Gunter, TX
On your first visit, you can expect to have a consultation with Dr. Doug McClellan to discuss your health-related problems, concerns, and possible treatment options. Dr. McClellan will learn more about you, your condition, and your expectations in order to determine the best treatment plan. You will receive a complete chiropractic examination, including tests specific to your mobility and function, as well as other standard neurological, orthopedic, postural and physical tests. As always, nothing will be done in our office without patient consent. The doctor will then discuss his findings and make treatment recommendations.

In some cases, chiropractic care may not be the best course of action for your specific problems. If we find you are not a candidate for chiropractic care, we will tell you and make recommendations for what type of doctor would best fit your needs.

X-Ray Studies
Depending on your specific examination results, X-Ray imaging might be necessary to be obtained before a full treatment plan is created. In these instances, a referral to a nearby facility will be sent out to have these images taken.

Report of Findings
Once the information is collected and examinations are performed, Dr. McClellan will provide a detailed report of all findings and answer any questions including:

  • What is the issue and its causes?
  • How often do I need to come in and for how long?
  • What will my treatment cost?

After reviewing your health history, goals, and examining your spine (and X-rays when ordered), the doctor will discuss recommendations and notify you if your condition requires care with other providers. Dr. McClellan will provide the best treatment and wellness program for your needs.

Treatment
At the conclusion of this initial appointment, you can choose to experience your first treatment. This may include spinal adjustments, soft tissue work, EMS (muscle stim), and various other modalities. Treatment is interactive, so you can express concerns about the different styles of treatment anytime.

Lifestyle Management Education
Through the course of care, the doctor will suggest elements of wellness to incorporate outside of treatment. If you are in pain when you first come into our office this may include: ice or heat application instructions, certain activities or positions to avoid, and at home exercises and/or stretches. If you desire, further time can be spent on this approach to help you have the tools needed for overall wellness. Every person is unique, therefore everyone requires a customized wellness plan. The purpose of our education program is for you to achieve optimal spinal alignment, have a healthy diet, exercise, and maintain a positive mental state.
